XXX.
THE
HEMLOCK.
I
think
the
hemlock
likes
to
stand
On
snow;
It
fits
his
own
cold,
And
fills
an
awe
That
people
must
feel
in
wild
places,
Or
in
the
desert,
—
A
need
for
the
cold,
Lapland's
way.
The
hemlock
loves
the
cold;
The
northern
winds
Are
his
best
drink,
His
best
wines.
To
fancy
people
he
is
nothing;
But
kids
on
the
Don
Under
his
branches
play,
And
wrestlers
run.
