III.
NATURE.
I.
MOTHER
NATURE.
Nature,
the
kind
mother,
Waits
for
every
child,
The
weak
or
the
wild,
—
Her
voice
is
soft
In
forest
and
hill,
People
hear
her
sound,
She
stops
the
fast
squirrel
Or
the
quick
bird.
How
nice
her
talk,
A
summer
day,
—
Her
home,
her
place;
And
when
the
sun
goes
down
Her
voice
in
the
trees
Makes
the
small
cricket
pray
And
the
tiny
flower.
When
all
sleep
She
turns
away
To
light
her
lamps;
Then,
from
the
sky
With
much
love
And
much
care,
Her
golden
finger
on
her
lip,
Makes
all
quiet.
