XXIX.
GHOSTS.
One
need
not
be
a
room
to
be
haunted,
One
need
not
be
a
house;
The
mind
has
paths
beyond
Material
place.
Far
safer,
at
midnight
meeting
Outside
ghost,
Than
inside
facing
That
whiter
host.
Far
safer
through
an
Abbey
run,
The
stones
chase,
Than,
moonless,
one's
own
self
meet
In
lonely
place.
Ourself,
behind
ourself
hid,
Should
scare
most;
Killer,
hid
in
our
room,
Be
horror's
least.
The
careful
carries
a
gun,
He
locks
the
door,
Overlooking
a
closer
ghost
More
near.
