XIV.
A
WELL.
A
well
is
a
mystery!
The
water
is
so
far,
Like
a
neighbor
from
another
world
Living
in
a
jar.
The
grass
is
not
afraid;
I
often
wonder
why
It
stands
so
close
and
looks
so
bold
At
what
scares
me.
Somehow
they
might
be
friends,
—
The
grass
stands
by
the
sea,
Where
it's
deep,
yet
of
fear
It
shows
no
sign.
But
nature
is
still
a
stranger;
Those
who
talk
about
her
most
Have
never
been
to
her
house,
Nor
seen
her
ghost.
To
pity
those
who
don't
know
her
Is
helped
by
the
regret
That
those
who
do
know
her,
know
her
less
The
closer
they
get.
