III.
NATURE.
I.
MOTHER
NATURE.
Nature,
the
kindest
mother,
Loves
every
child
she
sees,
The
weak
or
the
wild
ones,
—
Her
words
are
always
soft
In
forests
and
on
hills
Travelers
hear
her
speak,
Calming
busy
squirrels
Or
fast
little
birds.
Her
talk
is
so
lovely,
On
warm
summer
days,
—
Her
home,
her
family;
And
when
the
sun
sets
Her
voice
in
the
trees
Makes
the
smallest
cricket
And
the
smallest
flower
Say
a
quiet
prayer.
When
all
her
children
sleep
She
moves
just
far
enough
To
light
her
night
lamps;
Then,
bending
from
the
sky
With
endless
love
And
endless
care,
Her
golden
finger
on
her
lip,
She
asks
for
silence
everywhere.
