XXXVII.
A
THUNDER-STORM.
The
wind
started
to
shake
the
grass
With
scary
sounds
and
low,
It
threw
a
threat
at
the
ground,
A
threat
at
the
sky.
The
leaves
fell
off
from
the
trees
And
flew
everywhere;
The
dust
rose
up
like
hands
And
covered
the
road.
The
wagons
moved
faster
on
the
streets,
The
thunder
moved
slow;
The
lightning
showed
a
yellow
beak,
And
then
a
sharp
claw.
The
birds
closed
their
nests,
The
cows
ran
to
barns;
One
big
drop
of
rain
came,
And
then,
like
hands
That
let
go
of
the
dams,
The
water
filled
the
sky,
But
missed
my
father's
house,
And
hit
a
tree
nearby.
