VII.
THE
BUTTERFLY'S
DAY.
From
cocoon
came
a
butterfly
Like
a
lady
from
her
door
Appeared
—
a
summer
day
—
Flying
everywhere,
Without
a
clear
plan,
Except
to
wander
around
On
little
adventures
The
clovers
understood.
Her
pretty
umbrella
was
seen
Closing
in
a
field
Where
men
made
hay,
then
fought
With
a
cloud
above,
Where
others,
like
her,
Seemed
to
go
nowhere
In
a
circle,
Like
a
tropic
show.
And
even
though
bees
worked,
And
flowers
bloomed,
This
crowd
of
idleness
Ignored
them,
from
the
sky,
Till
sunset
came
slowly,
And
the
men
making
hay,
And
the
afternoon,
and
butterfly,
Faded
in
its
sea.
