XXIX.
GHOSTS.
One
need
not
be
a
room
to
be
haunted,
One
need
not
be
a
house;
The
brain
has
halls
greater
Than
any
place.
Safer,
of
a
midnight
meeting
Outside
ghost,
Than
an
inside
facing
That
whiter
host.
Safer
through
an
Abbey
ride,
The
stones
in
chase,
Than,
moonless,
one's
own
self
meet
In
lonely
place.
Ourself,
behind
ourself
hidden,
Should
scare
most;
Assassin,
hid
in
our
room,
Be
horror's
least.
The
wise
carries
a
gun,
He
locks
the
door,
Missing
a
greater
ghost
More
near.
