Poemas de Emily Dickinson, Tres Series, Completo
Colección 9, Poema 18
XIX.
I
HAD
A
GUINEA
GOLDEN.
I
had
a
gold
coin
once;
I
lost
it
in
the
sand.
It
was
a
simple
coin,
But
it
was
special
to
me.
I
looked
and
could
not
find
it,
So
I
sat
down
and
sighed.
I
had
a
red
robin
Who
sang
many
days.
But
when
the
trees
changed
color,
He
flew
away,
too.
Other
robins
came
later,
They
sang
the
same
songs.
But
I
missed
my
first
robin,
I
kept
my
door
open
for
him.
I
had
a
star
in
the
sky;
It
was
called
a
Pleiad.
When
I
was
not
looking,
It
moved
away
from
its
place.
The
sky
is
full
of
stars,
And
they
shine
all
night.
But
I
don't
care
about
them,
None
of
them
are
mine.
My
story
has
a
lesson:
I
have
a
missing
friend,
—
Pleiad
is
its
name,
and
robin,
And
coin
lost
in
the
sand,
—
When
this
sad
song,
With
tears,
is
read
by
you,
If
you
are
far
away,
I
hope
you
feel
sorry,
And
find
no
peace
under
the
sun.
NOTE.
—
This
poem
might
have
a
personal
story.
Maybe
it
was
sent
to
a
friend
in
Europe,
As
a
gentle
reminder
to
write
letters.
