VIII.
LIFE'S
TRADES.
It
is
a
small
thing
to
cry,
A
short
thing
to
sigh;
But
with
these
small
trades,
Men
and
women
die!
Drowning
is
not
as
sad
As
trying
to
rise
up.
People
say
a
sinking
man
Comes
up
three
times
to
see
the
sky,
And
then
goes
down
forever
To
a
place
he
does
not
like,
Where
hope
leaves
him
behind,
Because
God
takes
him.
The
Creator's
friendly
face,
Though
nice
to
see,
Is
avoided,
we
must
say,
Like
a
problem.
