X.
IN
A
LIBRARY.
It's
a
special
pleasure
To
meet
an
old
book,
In
the
clothes
of
its
century;
A
privilege,
I
think,
To
take
its
aged
hand,
Warm
it
in
ours,
And
make
a
journey
back
To
when
it
was
young.
To
see
its
opinions,
Unfold
its
knowledge
On
what
interests
us
both,
The
literature
of
old;
What
scholars
loved
most,
What
debates
occurred
When
Plato
was
certain
And
Sophocles
just
a
man;
When
Sappho
was
alive,
And
Beatrice
wore
The
dress
Dante
loved.
Facts
from
centuries
ago,
He
knows
well,
As
if
visiting
town
To
tell
us
our
dreams
were
true;
He
lived
where
dreams
began.
His
presence
is
magic,
You
ask
him
to
stay;
Old
books
shake
their
heads
And
tease
us,
just
so.
