XXIX.
TRYING
TO
FORGET.
Bereaved
of
all,
I
went
abroad,
No
less
alone
to
be
On
a
new
land,
—
The
grave
was
there
before
me,
Found
my
place
before
I
did,
And
when
I
sought
my
bed,
The
grave
was
there,
resting
on
The
pillow
for
my
head.
I
woke,
to
find
it
first
awake,
I
rose,
—
it
followed
me;
I
tried
to
lose
it
in
the
crowd,
To
leave
it
in
the
sea,
In
cups
of
fake
sleep
To
forget
its
shape,
—
The
grave
was
finished,
but
the
spade
Stayed
in
memory.
