XI.
THE
LOVERS.
The
rose
danced
on
her
cheek,
Her
dress
rose
and
fell,
Her
sweet
words,
like
drunk
men,
Staggered
softly.
Her
fingers
fumbled
at
her
work,
—
Her
needle
would
not
move;
What
troubled
such
a
smart
girl
I
wondered
to
know,
Until
I
saw
a
cheek
That
had
another
rose;
Just
opposite,
another
voice
That
staggered
like
a
drunk;
A
vest
that,
like
the
dress,
danced
To
the
eternal
tune,
—
Until
those
two
little
clocks
Ticked
softly
into
one.
