LI.
THE
BLUE
JAY.
No
leader
all
year
Is
as
civic
as
the
jay.
A
neighbor
and
a
fighter
too,
With
happy
calls
Chasing
winds
that
scold
us
On
a
February
day,
The
brother
of
the
universe
Was
never
blown
away.
The
snow
and
he
are
friends;
I've
often
seen
them
play
When
heaven
looked
at
us
all
With
such
severity,
I
felt
I
owed
an
apology
To
an
insulted
sky,
Whose
stern
look
was
food
To
their
boldness.
The
pillow
of
this
daring
head
Is
sharp
evergreens;
His
food
—
simple
and
strong
—
Unknown,
refreshing
things;
His
character
a
tonic,
His
future
a
debate;
Unfair
an
immortality
That
leaves
this
neighbor
out.
