X.
The
only
ghost
I
ever
saw
Was
dressed
in
lace,
—
so;
He
wore
no
shoes
on
his
feet,
And
moved
like
snowflakes.
His
steps
were
silent,
like
a
bird,
But
swift,
like
a
deer;
His
style
was
strange,
like
a
mosaic,
Or
perhaps,
mistletoe.
He
spoke
rarely,
His
laughter
like
the
breeze
That
fades
away
in
dimples
Among
the
thoughtful
trees.
Our
meeting
was
brief,—
Of
me,
he
was
shy;
And
I
hope
I
never
look
back
Since
that
frightening
day!
