XXXI.
PRECEDENCE.
Wait
till
the
majesty
of
Death
Touches
such
a
simple
brow!
Almost
a
servant
Might
dare
to
touch
it
now!
Wait
till
in
eternal
clothes
This
common
person
is
dressed,
Then
talk
about
"importance"
And
"position"
and
the
rest!
Around
this
quiet
courtier
Respectful
angels
wait!
Full
royal
is
his
group,
Full
purple
is
his
state!
A
lord
might
dare
to
lift
the
hat
To
such
a
modest
clay,
Since
that
my
Lord,
"the
Lord
of
lords"
Receives
without
shame!
Went
up
a
year
this
evening!
I
remember
it
well!
There
were
no
bells
or
cheers,
The
people
will
tell!
Happy,
like
going
to
the
village,
Calm,
like
going
to
rest,
Humble,
like
going
to
church,
This
simple
traveler
rose.
He
did
not
talk
of
coming
back,
Mentioned
no
time
When,
if
the
winds
were
kind,
We
might
see
him
again;
He
was
thankful
for
the
roses
In
life's
different
bouquet,
Spoke
softly
of
new
kinds
To
pick
another
day.
While
talking
about
these
wonders,
The
amazing
became
closer;
Hands
moved
at
the
ropes
—
The
crowd
grew
respectful.
He
rose
from
our
view
To
new
faces
above!
A
change,
a
daisy,
Is
all
the
rest
I
knew!
