IX.
Drowning
is
not
as
pitiful
As
trying
to
rise.
Three
times,
they
say,
a
sinking
man
Comes
up
to
face
the
skies,
And
then
he
goes
forever
To
that
disliked
place
Where
hope
and
he
part
ways,
—
For
God
holds
his
embrace.
The
Maker's
kind
face,
Though
good
to
see,
Is
avoided,
we
must
admit
it,
Like
a
difficulty.
