Colección 9, Poema 28
XXVI.
The
farthest
thunder
that
I
heard
Was
closer
than
the
sky,
And
rumbles
still,
though
hot
noons
Have
put
their
missiles
by.
The
lightning
that
came
before
Struck
no
one
but
me,
But
I
wouldn't
trade
the
bolt
For
all
the
rest
of
life.
Oxygen
debts
The
chemist
can
repay,
But
not
the
obligation
To
electricity.
It
builds
homes
and
brightens
days,
And
every
loud
sound
Is
just
the
flash
that
comes
With
that
surprising
light.
The
thought
is
quiet
as
a
flake,
—
A
crash
without
a
sound;
How
life's
echo
Found
its
explanation!
