IV.
THE
WAKING
YEAR.
A
lady
red
upon
the
hill
Her
yearly
secret
keeps;
A
lady
white
within
the
field
In
calm
lily
sleeps!
The
playful
breezes
with
their
brooms
Sweep
vale,
and
hill,
and
tree!
Tell
me,
my
lovely
housewives!
Who
might
be
on
the
way?
The
neighbors
have
no
clue
yet!
The
woods
share
a
secret
smile
—
Orchard,
buttercup,
and
bird
—
In
just
a
little
while!
Yet
how
still
the
landscape
stands,
How
calm
the
woods
appear,
As
if
the
resurrection
Were
nothing
strange
or
rare!
