XXV.
SHIPWRECK.
It
tossed
and
tossed,—
A
little
ship
I
knew,—
Caught
by
a
storm,
It
spun
and
spun,
And
groped
wildly
for
dawn.
It
slipped
and
slipped,
Like
a
drunk
who
stumbles;
Its
white
foot
tripped,
Then
vanished
from
sight.
Ah,
ship,
good-night
To
crew
and
you;
The
ocean's
heart
too
smooth,
too
blue,
To
break
for
you.
