XXXVI.
SIGHT.
Before
I
lost
my
sight,
I
loved
to
see
As
other
creatures
that
have
eyes,
And
know
no
other
way.
But
were
it
told
to
me,
today,
That
I
might
have
the
sky
For
mine,
I
tell
you
that
my
heart
Would
burst,
for
size
of
me.
The
meadows
are
mine,
the
mountains
too,
—
All
forests,
endless
stars,
As
much
of
noon
as
I
could
see
Between
my
limited
eyes.
The
flight
of
birds
in
motion,
The
zigzag
path
of
lightning,
For
me
to
watch
whenever
I
wished,
—
The
news
could
shock
me
still!
So
safer,
I
guess,
with
just
my
soul
Pressed
against
the
window-pane
Where
others
gaze
carelessly,
Unaware
of
the
sun.
