XXXIX.
Good
night!
Who
put
the
candle
out?
A
jealous
breeze,
no
doubt.
Ah!
friend,
you
never
knew
How
long
the
angels
worked
On
that
celestial
wick;
Snuffed
now,
just
for
you!
It
might
have
been
a
lighthouse
spark
Some
sailor,
rowing
in
the
dark,
Had
begged
to
see!
It
might
have
been
the
fading
lamp
That
led
the
drummer
from
the
camp
To
a
purer
reveille!
