XX.
FOLLOWING.
I
had
no
reason
to
be
awake,
My
best
was
gone
to
sleep,
And
morning
took
a
new
courtesy,
And
failed
to
wake
them
up,
But
called
the
others
clear,
And
passed
their
curtains
by.
Sweet
morning,
when
I
oversleep,
Knock,
remember,
for
me!
I
looked
at
sunrise
once,
And
then
I
looked
at
them,
And
a
longing
in
me
grew
For
things
to
be
the
same.
It
was
such
a
vast
peace,
It
couldn't
hold
a
sigh,
—
It
was
Sabbath
without
bells,
It
was
sunset
all
the
day.
So
choosing
just
a
gown
And
taking
just
a
prayer,
The
only
garment
I
would
need,
I
struggled,
and
was
there.
