Colección 8, Poema 27
XXVII.
If
I
should
die,
And
you
should
live,
And
time
should
roll
on,
And
morning
should
shine,
And
noon
should
blaze,
As
it
has
always
done;
If
birds
should
nest
as
early,
And
bees
as
busy
go,
—
One
might
leave
at
will
From
tasks
below!
It's
comforting
to
know
that
stocks
will
stand
When
we
with
daisies
lie,
That
commerce
will
continue,
And
trades
as
briskly
fly.
It
makes
the
parting
calm
And
keeps
the
soul
serene,
That
gentlemen
so
lively
Conduct
the
pleasant
scene!
