XXVII.
AURORA.
Of
bronze
and
blaze
The
north,
tonight!
So
complete
its
forms,
So
self-assured,
So
distant
from
alarms,
—
An
unconcern
so
sovereign
To
universe,
or
me,
It
paints
my
simple
spirit
With
hues
of
majesty,
Till
I
adopt
grander
postures,
And
strut
upon
my
stem,
Disdaining
men
and
oxygen,
For
their
arrogance.
My
splendors
are
a
menagerie;
But
their
incomparable
display
Will
entertain
the
centuries
When
I
am,
long
ago,
An
island
in
dishonored
grass,
Known
only
to
daisies.
