XLVI.
A
heart
not
as
heavy
as
mine,
Returning
home
late,
As
it
passed
by
my
window
Whistled
itself
a
tune,
—
A
casual
snatch,
a
ballad,
A
street
song;
Yet
to
my
irritated
ear
An
analgesic
so
sweet,
It
was
as
if
a
bobolink,
Strolling
this
way,
Sang
and
mused
and
sang,
Then
bubbled
slowly
away.
It
was
as
if
a
babbling
brook
On
a
weary
path
Set
weary
feet
to
dance
Without
knowing
why.
Tomorrow,
night
will
come
again,
Weary,
perhaps,
and
sore.
Ah,
bugle,
by
my
window,
I
pray
you
stroll
once
more!
