IX.
THE
TEST.
I
can
endure
grief,
Whole
pools
of
it,—
I'm
accustomed
to
that.
But
the
slightest
push
of
joy
Unsteadies
my
feet,
And
I
tip—drunken.
Let
no
pebble
smile,
It
was
the
new
liquor,—
That
was
all!
Power
is
only
pain,
Stranded,
through
discipline,
Until
weights
will
hang.
Give
balm
to
giants,
And
they'll
wilt,
like
men.
Give
Himalaya,—
They'll
carry
him!
