XXVIII.
I
know
a
place
where
summer
battles
With
such
a
practiced
chill,
She
annually
brings
back
her
daisies,
Recording
simply,
"Lost."
But
when
the
south
wind
stirs
the
pools
And
struggles
through
the
lanes,
Her
heart
doubts
her
vow,
And
she
pours
gentle
refrains
Into
the
lap
of
adamant,
With
spices,
and
the
dew,
That
stiffens
quietly
to
quartz,
Upon
her
amber
shoe.
