IV.
DAY'S
PARLOR.
The
day
crept
slowly
till
five
o'clock,
Then
leapt
over
the
hills
Like
delayed
rubies,
or
the
light
A
sudden
musket
spills.
The
purple
couldn't
hold
the
east,
Sunrise
unfurled
from
folds,
Like
topaz
breadths,
packed
a
night,
The
lady
just
unrolled.
The
cheerful
winds
took
up
their
timbrels;
The
birds,
in
obedient
rows,
Arranged
themselves
around
their
prince
(The
wind
is
prince
of
those).
The
orchard
sparkled
like
a
jewel,
—
How
grand
it
was
to
stay
A
guest
in
this
magnificent
place,
The
parlor
of
the
day!
