VIII.
THE
BLUEBIRD.
Before
you
considered
spring,
Except
as
a
guess,
You
see,
God
bless
his
suddenness,
A
fellow
in
the
skies
Of
independent
hues,
A
little
weathered,
Donning
vibrant
clothing
Of
indigo
and
brown.
With
samples
of
song,
As
if
for
you
to
choose,
Discretion
in
the
pause,
With
cheerful
delays
he
goes
To
a
superior
tree
Without
a
single
leaf,
And
shouts
for
joy
to
nobody
But
his
celestial
self!
