Holmes

because

and
solved
mysteries
quickly.

was
so
used
to
his
success
that
I
never
thought
he
could
fail.
It
was
almost
four
when
the
door
opened.
A
man
looking
like
a
drunk
groom
came
in.
He
was
dirty,
with
side-whiskers,
a
red
face,
and
bad
clothes.
I
had
to
look
three
times
to
know
it
was
Holmes.
He
nodded
and
went
to
the
bedroom.
Five
minutes
later,
he
came
out
looking
neat
in
his
tweed
suit.
He
put
his
hands
in
his
pockets,
stretched
his
legs
by
the
fire,
and
laughed
for
a
while.
"Well,
really!"
he
said,
then
laughed
again
until
he
had
to
lie
back
in
the
chair.
"What
is
it?"
"It's
too
funny.

can't
guess
what
I
did
this
morning."

can't
imagine.

watch

and
her

"Yes,
but
the
end
was
unusual.

left
at
eight

as
