Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Copper Beeches
Capítulo 12, Página 25
"My
God!"
he
cried.
"Someone
let
the
dog
loose.
It
hasn't
eaten
for
two
days.
Quick,
quick,
or
it
will
be
too
late!"
Holmes
and
I
ran
outside
and
around
the
house,
with
Toller
behind
us.
The
big
hungry
dog
had
its
mouth
on
Rucastle’s
throat.
He
was
on
the
ground,
screaming.
I
ran
up
and
shot
the
dog,
and
it
fell
over.
We
pulled
them
apart
and
carried
Rucastle,
alive
but
badly
hurt,
into
the
house.
We
laid
him
on
the
sofa,
and
I
helped
with
his
pain.
We
were
all
around
him
when
a
tall,
thin
woman
came
into
the
room.
"Mrs.
Toller!"
cried
Miss
Hunter.
"Yes,
miss.
Mr.
Rucastle
let
me
out
when
he
came
back
before
he
went
to
you.
Ah,
miss,
you
should
have
told
me
your
plan.
I
would
have
said
you
were
wasting
your
time."
"Ha!"
said
Holmes,
looking
closely
at
her.
"Mrs.
Toller
knows
more
about
this
than
anyone
else."
"Yes,
sir,
I
do,
and
I
am
ready
to
tell
what
I
know."
"Then
please
sit
down
and
tell
us.
I
am
still
confused
about
some
points."
"I
will
explain,"
she
said.
"I
would
have
done
it
before
if
I
could
get
out
of
the
cellar.
If
there
is
any
trouble
with
the
police,
remember
I
helped
you,
and
I
was
Miss
Alice’s
friend
too."
