Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
A Case of Identity
Capítulo 3, Página 11
Sherlock
Holmes
sat
quietly
for
a
few
minutes,
his
fingers
together,
legs
stretched
out,
and
eyes
on
the
ceiling.
Then
he
took
his
old
clay
pipe,
lit
it,
and
leaned
back,
smoke
rising
around
him,
a
calm
look
on
his
face.
"That
young
woman
is
quite
interesting,"
he
said.
"I
found
her
more
interesting
than
her
problem,
which
is
quite
common.
You
will
find
similar
cases
in
my
index,
like
Andover
in
'77
and
something
at
The
Hague
last
year.
But
the
woman
herself
was
most
instructive."
"You
saw
a
lot
in
her
that
I
missed,"
I
said.
"Not
invisible,
Watson,
just
unnoticed.
You
didn't
know
where
to
look.
I
can
never
make
you
see
the
importance
of
sleeves,
thumb-nails,
or
a
boot-lace.
What
did
you
notice
about
her
appearance?
Describe
it."
"She
wore
a
slate-colored,
wide
straw
hat
with
a
red
feather.
Her
jacket
was
black
with
beads
and
a
fringe.
Her
dress
was
brown,
darker
than
coffee,
with
purple
at
the
neck
and
sleeves.
Her
gloves
were
gray
and
worn
at
the
right
forefinger.
I
didn't
notice
her
boots.
She
had
small
gold
earrings
and
looked
well-off
in
a
simple
way."
Sherlock
Holmes
clapped
his
hands
softly
and
chuckled.
"Watson,
you
are
improving.
You
missed
the
important
things,
but
you
have
a
good
eye
for
color.
Never
trust
general
impressions,
focus
on
details.
I
always
look
at
a
woman's
sleeve
first.
Her
sleeves
had
plush,
a
material
that
shows
marks.
The
double
line
above
the
wrist
showed
she
was
a
typewriter.
I
then
looked
at
her
face
and
saw
marks
from
glasses,
so
I
guessed
she
was
short-sighted
and
typed,
which
surprised
her."
"It
surprised
me."
