Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Engineer's Thumb
Capítulo 9, Página 18
"Yes,
it
is
clear
the
colonel
was
a
dangerous
man
who
would
stop
at
nothing.
Like
pirates
who
leave
no
survivors.
Well,
every
moment
counts
now,
so
if
you
feel
up
to
it,
we
will
go
to
Scotland
Yard
and
then
to
Eyford."
About
three
hours
later,
we
were
all
on
the
train
going
from
Reading
to
a
small
village
in
Berkshire.
Sherlock
Holmes,
the
hydraulic
engineer,
Inspector
Bradstreet
from
Scotland
Yard,
a
plain-clothes
man,
and
I
were
there.
Bradstreet
had
a
map
of
the
county
on
the
seat
and
was
busy
drawing
a
circle
with
Eyford
at
the
center.
"There
you
are,"
he
said.
"The
circle
has
a
ten-mile
radius
from
the
village.
The
place
we
want
must
be
near
that
line.
You
said
ten
miles,
right?"
"It
was
a
good
hour's
drive."
"And
you
think
they
took
you
back
that
far
when
you
were
unconscious?"
"They
must
have.
I
have
a
confused
memory
of
being
lifted
and
carried."
"What
I
don't
understand,"
I
said,
"is
why
they
spared
you
when
you
were
fainting
in
the
garden.
Maybe
the
villain
was
softened
by
the
woman’s
pleas."
"I
don't
think
so.
I
never
saw
a
more
relentless
face
in
my
life."
