Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
A Scandal in Bohemia
Capítulo 1, Página 16
At
exactly
three
o'clock,
I
was
at
Baker
Street,
but
Holmes
hadn't
returned
yet.
The
landlady
told
me
he
left
shortly
after
eight
in
the
morning.
I
sat
by
the
fire,
planning
to
wait
for
him,
no
matter
how
long
it
took.
I
was
already
very
interested
in
his
investigation.
Although
it
wasn't
as
grim
or
strange
as
the
two
crimes
I
had
written
about
before,
the
nature
of
the
case
and
the
high
status
of
his
client
made
it
unique.
Besides
the
investigation,
I
enjoyed
studying
Holmes's
way
of
working
and
his
sharp
reasoning,
which
helped
him
solve
the
most
complex
mysteries.
I
was
so
used
to
his
success
that
I
never
thought
he
could
fail.
It
was
nearly
four
when
the
door
opened,
and
a
shabby-looking
groom,
with
a
red
face
and
messy
clothes,
came
into
the
room.
I
was
used
to
my
friend's
amazing
disguises,
but
I
had
to
look
three
times
to
be
sure
it
was
him.
With
a
nod,
he
disappeared
into
the
bedroom
and
came
out
five
minutes
later,
dressed
neatly
in
tweed.
He
put
his
hands
in
his
pockets,
stretched
out
his
legs
in
front
of
the
fire,
and
laughed
for
several
minutes.
"Well,
really!"
he
exclaimed,
then
laughed
again
until
he
had
to
lie
back
in
the
chair,
helpless.
"What
is
it?"
"It's
really
funny.
I
bet
you
can't
guess
how
I
spent
my
morning
or
what
I
ended
up
doing."
"I
can't
imagine.
I
suppose
you
were
watching
Miss
Irene
Adler's
habits
and
maybe
her
house."
"Exactly;
but
the
outcome
was
quite
unusual.
I'll
tell
you.
I
left
the
house
a
little
after
eight
this
morning,
pretending
to
be
an
out-of-work
groom.
There's
a
great
connection
among
horsemen.
If
you
become
one
of
them,
you'll
learn
everything.
I
soon
found
Briony
Lodge.
It's
a
small
villa
with
a
garden
at
the
back.
The
front
is
built
right
up
to
the
road,
with
two
stories.
The
door
has
a
Chubb
lock.
There's
a
large
sitting-room
on
the
right,
well-furnished,
with
long
windows
almost
to
the
floor,
and
those
silly
English
window
fasteners
a
child
could
open.
The
back
wasn't
remarkable,
except
you
could
reach
the
passage
window
from
the
top
of
the
coach-house.
I
walked
around
and
checked
it
from
every
angle
but
found
nothing
else
interesting."
"I
then
walked
down
the
street
and
found,
as
I
expected,
there
was
a
mews
in
a
lane
next
to
the
garden
wall.
I
helped
the
stable
workers
clean
their
horses
and
got
two
pence,
a
glass
of
half-and-half,
two
fills
of
shag
tobacco,
and
as
much
information
as
I
wanted
about
Miss
Adler.
I
also
heard
about
half
a
dozen
other
people
in
the
area
that
I
wasn't
interested
in,
but
I
had
to
listen
to
their
stories."
