Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet
Capítulo 11, Página 1
"Holmes,"
I
said
as
I
stood
one
morning
by
our
window,
looking
down
the
street,
"there
is
a
madman
coming.
It's
sad
that
his
family
lets
him
go
out
alone."
My
friend
got
up
slowly
from
his
chair
and
stood
with
his
hands
in
his
dressing-gown
pockets,
looking
over
my
shoulder.
It
was
a
bright
February
morning,
and
the
snow
from
yesterday
still
covered
the
ground,
shining
in
the
sun.
In
the
middle
of
Baker
Street,
the
traffic
had
turned
it
into
a
brown
path,
but
on
the
sides,
it
was
as
white
as
when
it
fell.
The
pavement
was
cleaned
but
still
very
slippery,
so
there
were
fewer
people
than
usual.
In
fact,
from
the
direction
of
the
Metropolitan
Station,
no
one
was
coming
except
the
gentleman
whose
strange
behavior
caught
my
attention.
He
was
about
fifty,
tall
and
impressive,
with
a
strong
face
and
a
commanding
presence.
He
wore
a
dark
but
rich
outfit—a
black
coat,
shiny
hat,
neat
brown
gaiters,
and
well-cut
grey
trousers.
Yet,
his
actions
were
ridiculous
compared
to
his
dignified
look.
He
was
running
hard,
with
little
jumps,
like
a
tired
man
not
used
to
running.
As
he
ran,
he
waved
his
hands,
shook
his
head,
and
made
strange
faces.
"What
could
be
wrong
with
him?"
I
asked.
"He's
looking
at
house
numbers."
"I
think
he's
coming
here,"
said
Holmes,
rubbing
his
hands.
"Here?"
"Yes,
I
believe
he's
coming
to
see
me
professionally.
I
think
I
know
the
signs.
Ah!
Didn't
I
tell
you?"
As
he
spoke,
the
man,
out
of
breath,
rushed
to
our
door
and
pulled
the
bell
until
the
whole
house
rang
with
the
sound.
A
few
moments
later,
he
was
in
our
room,
still
out
of
breath
and
waving
his
arms,
but
with
such
a
look
of
grief
and
despair
in
his
eyes
that
our
smiles
quickly
turned
to
horror
and
pity.
For
a
while,
he
couldn't
speak,
swaying
and
pulling
at
his
hair
as
if
he
had
lost
his
mind.
Then,
suddenly,
he
jumped
up
and
hit
his
head
against
the
wall
so
hard
that
we
both
rushed
to
him
and
pulled
him
to
the
center
of
the
room.
Sherlock
Holmes
pushed
him
into
the
easy-chair
and,
sitting
beside
him,
patted
his
hand
and
spoke
to
him
in
a
calm,
soothing
voice
he
knew
well
how
to
use.
