Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet
Capítulo 11, Página 9
"Now
I
come
to
a
part
of
my
story
where
I
need
to
be
very
clear.
I'm
not
a
heavy
sleeper,
and
my
worries
made
me
even
less
so.
Around
two
in
the
morning,
I
woke
up
because
of
a
sound
in
the
house.
It
stopped
before
I
was
fully
awake,
but
it
felt
like
a
window
had
closed
gently.
I
listened
carefully.
Suddenly,
I
heard
footsteps
in
the
next
room.
I
got
out
of
bed,
scared,
and
peeked
around
the
corner
of
my
dressing-room
door."
"Arthur!"
I
screamed,
"You
villain!
You
thief!
How
dare
you
touch
that
coronet?"
"The
gas
light
was
half
on,
as
I
had
left
it,
and
my
poor
boy,
dressed
only
in
his
shirt
and
trousers,
was
standing
by
the
light,
holding
the
coronet.
He
seemed
to
be
trying
to
bend
it.
When
I
shouted,
he
dropped
it
and
turned
pale.
I
picked
it
up
and
saw
that
one
of
the
gold
corners,
with
three
beryls,
was
missing."
"You
scoundrel!"
I
shouted,
furious.
"You've
ruined
it!
You've
shamed
me
forever!
Where
are
the
jewels
you
stole?"
"Stolen!"
he
cried.
"Yes,
thief!"
I
yelled,
shaking
his
shoulder.
"None
are
missing.
There
can't
be
any
missing,"
he
said.
"Three
are
missing.
You
know
where
they
are.
Must
I
call
you
a
liar
as
well
as
a
thief?
Didn't
I
see
you
trying
to
tear
off
another
piece?"
