Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Copper Beeches
Capítulo 12, Página 3
"This
might
be
more
interesting
than
you
think.
Remember
the
case
of
the
blue
carbuncle?
It
started
as
a
simple
case
but
turned
into
a
serious
investigation.
This
might
be
similar."
"Let's
hope
so.
But
we
will
soon
find
out,
because
here,
unless
I'm
wrong,
is
the
person
in
question."
As
he
spoke,
the
door
opened
and
a
young
lady
came
in.
She
was
dressed
simply
but
neatly,
with
a
bright,
quick
face,
freckled
like
a
bird's
egg,
and
she
had
the
confident
manner
of
someone
who
has
had
to
make
her
own
way
in
life.
"I
hope
I'm
not
bothering
you,"
she
said,
as
my
companion
stood
up
to
greet
her,
"but
I
have
had
a
very
strange
experience.
I
have
no
parents
or
relatives
to
ask
for
advice,
so
I
thought
you
might
be
kind
enough
to
help
me."
"Please
sit
down,
Miss
Hunter.
I
will
be
happy
to
help
you
in
any
way
I
can."
I
could
see
that
Holmes
was
impressed
by
the
young
lady's
manner
and
speech.
He
looked
at
her
carefully,
then
settled
back,
with
his
eyelids
drooping
and
his
fingertips
together,
ready
to
listen
to
her
story.
"I
have
been
a
governess
for
five
years,"
she
said,
"in
Colonel
Spence
Munro's
family.
But
two
months
ago,
he
got
a
job
in
Halifax,
Nova
Scotia,
and
took
his
children
to
America.
So,
I
found
myself
without
a
job.
I
advertised
and
answered
ads,
but
without
success.
Finally,
the
little
money
I
had
saved
started
to
run
out,
and
I
didn't
know
what
to
do."
"There
is
a
well-known
agency
for
governesses
in
the
West
End
called
Westaway’s.
I
used
to
go
there
once
a
week
to
see
if
there
was
any
job
for
me.
Westaway
was
the
founder's
name,
but
Miss
Stoper
manages
it
now.
She
stays
in
her
office,
and
the
ladies
looking
for
work
wait
in
a
room
outside.
Then
they
go
in
one
by
one,
and
she
checks
her
records
to
see
if
there's
anything
suitable
for
them."
