Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
A Case of Identity
Capítulo 3, Página 12
"But
it
was
obvious.
I
was
surprised
and
interested
to
see
that
her
boots
were
odd,
though
they
looked
similar.
One
had
a
decorated
toe-cap,
the
other
plain.
One
was
buttoned
only
at
the
lower
buttons,
the
other
at
the
first,
third,
and
fifth.
When
a
neatly
dressed
young
lady
has
odd
boots,
half-buttoned,
it's
easy
to
deduce
she
left
in
a
hurry."
"And
what
else?"
I
asked,
always
interested
in
my
friend's
sharp
reasoning.
"I
noticed
she
wrote
a
note
before
leaving
home,
after
dressing.
You
saw
her
right
glove
was
torn
at
the
forefinger,
but
didn't
see
that
both
glove
and
finger
were
stained
with
violet
ink.
She
wrote
in
a
hurry
and
dipped
her
pen
too
deep.
It
must
have
been
this
morning,
or
the
stain
wouldn't
be
clear.
This
is
amusing,
though
simple,
but
I
must
get
back
to
work,
Watson.
Can
you
read
me
the
advertisement
about
Mr.
Hosmer
Angel?"
I
held
the
printed
slip
to
the
light.
"Missing,"
it
said,
"on
the
morning
of
the
fourteenth,
a
gentleman
named
Hosmer
Angel.
About
five
feet
seven
inches
tall;
strongly
built,
with
a
sallow
complexion,
black
hair,
a
little
bald
in
the
center,
bushy
black
side-whiskers
and
moustache;
wore
tinted
glasses,
slight
speech
issue.
Last
seen
wearing
a
black
frock-coat
with
silk,
black
waistcoat,
gold
chain,
and
grey
Harris
tweed
trousers
with
brown
gaiters
over
elastic-sided
boots.
Known
to
work
in
an
office
on
Leadenhall
Street.
Anybody
bringing,"
etc.,
etc.
"That
will
do,"
said
Holmes.
"About
the
letters,"
he
continued,
looking
over
them,
"they
are
very
ordinary.
There
is
no
clue
to
Mr.
Angel,
except
he
quotes
Balzac
once.
But
there
is
one
interesting
point
that
you
will
notice."
"They
are
typewritten,"
I
said.
"Not
just
that,
but
the
signature
is
typewritten
too.
Look
at
the
neat
'Hosmer
Angel'
at
the
bottom.
There's
a
date,
but
no
address
except
Leadenhall
Street,
which
is
vague.
The
typewritten
signature
is
very
telling—in
fact,
we
might
say
it's
conclusive."
"Conclusive
of
what?"
