Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Boscombe Valley Mystery
Capítulo 4, Página 11
"There,
now!"
she
exclaimed,
throwing
back
her
head
and
looking
defiantly
at
Lestrade.
"You
hear!
He
gives
me
hope."
Lestrade
shrugged
his
shoulders.
"I'm
afraid
my
colleague
has
been
a
bit
quick
with
his
conclusions,"
he
said.
"But
he's
right.
Oh!
I
know
he's
right.
James
never
did
it.
And
about
his
argument
with
his
father,
I'm
sure
the
reason
he
wouldn't
talk
about
it
to
the
coroner
was
because
it
involved
me."
"In
what
way?"
asked
Holmes.
"This
is
no
time
to
hide
anything.
James
and
his
father
often
argued
about
me.
Mr.
McCarthy
wanted
us
to
marry.
James
and
I
have
always
loved
each
other
like
brother
and
sister;
but
of
course,
he's
young
and
hasn't
seen
much
of
life
yet,
and—well,
he
naturally
didn't
want
to
do
that
yet.
So
there
were
arguments,
and
I'm
sure
this
was
one
of
them."
"And
your
father?"
asked
Holmes.
"Was
he
in
favor
of
such
a
union?"
"No,
he
was
against
it
too.
No
one
but
Mr.
McCarthy
wanted
it."
A
quick
blush
colored
her
fresh
young
face
as
Holmes
gave
her
one
of
his
sharp,
questioning
looks.
"Thank
you
for
this
information,"
he
said.
"May
I
see
your
father
if
I
visit
tomorrow?"
