Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Man with the Twisted Lip
Capítulo 6, Página 7
"Near
Lee,
in
Kent.
We
have
a
seven-mile
drive
ahead."
"But
I
don't
know
anything
about
this."
"Of
course
you
don't.
You'll
know
everything
soon.
Jump
up
here.
All
right,
John;
we
won't
need
you.
Here's
half
a
crown.
Look
for
me
tomorrow,
around
eleven.
Let
her
go.
Goodbye,
then!"
He
flicked
the
horse
with
his
whip,
and
we
raced
away
through
the
endless
dark
and
empty
streets,
which
gradually
widened
until
we
were
speeding
across
a
wide
bridge,
with
the
murky
river
flowing
slowly
beneath
us.
Beyond
was
another
dull
area
of
bricks
and
buildings,
its
silence
broken
only
by
the
heavy,
regular
steps
of
a
policeman,
or
the
songs
and
shouts
of
some
late-night
partygoers.
A
dull
cloud
was
drifting
slowly
across
the
sky,
and
a
star
or
two
twinkled
dimly
through
the
gaps
in
the
clouds.
Holmes
drove
in
silence,
his
head
down,
looking
thoughtful,
while
I
sat
beside
him,
eager
to
know
what
this
new
case
was
that
seemed
to
challenge
him
so
much,
yet
afraid
to
interrupt
his
thoughts.
We
had
driven
several
miles
and
were
reaching
the
edge
of
the
suburban
villas
when
he
shook
himself,
shrugged,
and
lit
his
pipe,
looking
like
a
man
who
had
decided
he
was
doing
the
right
thing.
"You
have
a
great
gift
of
silence,
Watson,"
he
said.
"It
makes
you
an
invaluable
companion.
Honestly,
it's
wonderful
to
have
someone
to
talk
to,
because
my
own
thoughts
aren't
very
pleasant.
I
was
wondering
what
I
should
say
to
this
dear
little
woman
tonight
when
she
meets
me
at
the
door."
"You
forget
that
I
know
nothing
about
it."
"I'll
have
just
enough
time
to
tell
you
the
facts
before
we
get
to
Lee.
It
seems
very
simple,
and
yet,
somehow
I
can't
find
anything
to
hold
onto.
There's
plenty
of
thread,
but
I
can't
get
the
end
of
it
into
my
hand.
Now,
I'll
explain
the
case
clearly
and
briefly
to
you,
Watson,
and
maybe
you
can
see
a
light
where
all
is
dark
to
me."
"Go
on,
then."
