couldn't
sleep
that
night.
I
had
a
bad
feeling
something
awful
would
happen.
My
sister
and
I
were
twins,
and
you
know
how
close
twins
can
be.
It
was
a
wild
night.
The
wind
was
howling,
and
the
rain
was
hitting
the
windows
hard.
Suddenly,
in
the
middle
of
the
storm,
I
heard
a
woman
scream.
I
knew
it
was
my
sister's
voice.
I
jumped
out
of
bed,
wrapped
a
shawl
around
me,
and
ran
into
the
hallway.
As
I
opened
my
door,
I
thought
I
heard
a
low
whistle,
like
my
sister
had
described,
and
then
a
clanging
sound,
like
metal
falling.
As
I
ran
down
the
passage,
my
sister's
door
was
open,
turning
slowly
on
its
hinges.
I
stared
at
it,
scared,
not
knowing
what
would
come
out.
By
the
light
in
the
corridor,
I
saw
my
sister
appear
at
the
door.
Her
face
was
white
with
fear,
her
hands
reaching
out
for
help,
and
she
was
swaying
like
a
drunk
person.
I
ran
to
her
and
hugged
her,
but
then
her
knees
gave
way,
and
she
fell
to
the
ground.
She
twisted
as
if
in
terrible
pain,
and
her
body
shook
violently.
At
first,
I
thought
she
didn't
know
me,
but
as
I
leaned
over
her,

suddenly
screamed
in

metallic

swear

heard
it?"
"That's

the
county
coroner
asked
me
during
the
inquiry.
I
strongly
believe
I
heard
it,

with
the
storm
and
the

house
creaking,

might
have

mistaken."

sister
