Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Engineer's Thumb
Capítulo 9, Página 18
"'Undoubtedly.
It's
clear
the
colonel
was
a
cold
and
desperate
man,
determined
not
to
let
anything
stop
him,
like
pirates
who
leave
no
survivors.
Every
moment
is
precious,
so
if
you
feel
up
to
it,
we
should
go
to
Scotland
Yard
now,
then
head
to
Eyford.'"
About
three
hours
later,
we
were
all
on
the
train
together,
traveling
from
Reading
to
a
small
village
in
Berkshire.
There
were
Sherlock
Holmes,
the
hydraulic
engineer,
Inspector
Bradstreet
from
Scotland
Yard,
a
plain-clothes
officer,
and
me.
Bradstreet
had
an
ordnance
map
of
the
county
spread
out
on
the
seat
and
was
using
his
compasses
to
draw
a
circle
with
Eyford
at
its
center.
"There
you
go,"
he
said.
"This
circle
has
a
ten-mile
radius
from
the
village.
The
place
we
need
must
be
somewhere
near
this
line.
You
mentioned
ten
miles,
right?"
"It
was
a
good
hour's
drive."
"And
you
believe
they
took
you
all
that
way
while
you
were
unconscious?"
"They
must
have.
I
vaguely
remember
being
carried
somewhere."
"What
I
can't
figure
out,"
I
said,
"is
why
they
didn't
harm
you
when
they
found
you
fainting
in
the
garden.
Maybe
the
villain
was
moved
by
the
woman's
pleas."
"I
doubt
that.
I
have
never
seen
a
more
unforgiving
face."
