Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
A Scandal in Bohemia
Capítulo 1, Página 2
“I
see
it,
I
deduce
it.
How
do
I
know
that
you've
been
very
wet
lately
and
have
a
clumsy
and
careless
servant
girl?”
“My
dear
Holmes,”
I
said,
“this
is
too
much.
You
would
have
been
burned
at
the
stake
if
you
had
lived
a
few
centuries
ago.
It's
true
I
had
a
walk
in
the
country
on
Thursday
and
came
home
in
a
terrible
state,
but
as
I've
changed
my
clothes,
I
can't
imagine
how
you
deduce
it.
As
for
Mary
Jane,
she's
incorrigible,
and
my
wife
has
given
her
notice,
but
again,
I
don't
see
how
you
worked
it
out.”
He
chuckled
and
rubbed
his
long,
nervous
hands
together.
“It's
simplicity
itself,”
he
said.
“My
eyes
tell
me
that
on
the
inside
of
your
left
shoe,
where
the
firelight
strikes
it,
the
leather
is
marked
by
six
almost
parallel
cuts.
Clearly,
they
were
made
by
someone
who
carelessly
scraped
around
the
sole
to
remove
crusted
mud.
Hence,
my
double
deduction
that
you
were
out
in
bad
weather
and
that
you
have
a
particularly
careless
boot-slitting
London
maid.
As
for
your
practice,
if
a
gentleman
walks
into
my
rooms
smelling
of
iodoform,
with
a
black
mark
of
nitrate
of
silver
on
his
right
forefinger,
and
a
bulge
on
the
right
side
of
his
top
hat
showing
where
he
has
hidden
his
stethoscope,
I
must
be
dull
indeed
if
I
don't
conclude
he
is
an
active
member
of
the
medical
profession.”
I
couldn't
help
laughing
at
how
easily
he
explained
his
deduction
process.
“When
I
hear
your
reasons,”
I
remarked,
“it
always
seems
so
simple
that
I
could
do
it
myself,
yet
each
time
I'm
baffled
until
you
explain.
And
yet,
I
believe
my
eyes
are
as
good
as
yours.”
“Quite
so,”
he
replied,
lighting
a
cigarette
and
throwing
himself
into
an
armchair.
“You
see,
but
you
do
not
observe.
The
distinction
is
clear.
For
example,
you've
often
seen
the
steps
leading
up
from
the
hall
to
this
room.”
“Often.”
“How
many
times?”
