Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
A Scandal in Bohemia
Capítulo 1, Página 22
"Then
you
can
rely
on
me
completely."
"That’s
excellent.
I
think
it’s
almost
time
for
me
to
prepare
for
the
new
role
I’m
to
play."
He
disappeared
into
his
bedroom
and
returned
shortly,
dressed
as
a
friendly
and
simple-minded
Nonconformist
clergyman.
His
broad
black
hat,
baggy
trousers,
white
tie,
sympathetic
smile,
and
curious
demeanor
were
such
that
only
Mr.
John
Hare
could
have
matched.
It
wasn’t
just
that
Holmes
changed
his
clothes.
His
expression,
his
manner,
his
very
essence
seemed
to
change
with
each
new
character
he
took
on.
The
stage
lost
a
great
actor,
just
as
science
lost
a
sharp
thinker,
when
he
became
a
specialist
in
crime.
It
was
6:15
when
we
left
Baker
Street,
and
we
arrived
at
Serpentine
Avenue
ten
minutes
before
seven.
The
evening
was
setting
in,
and
the
street
lamps
were
just
being
lit
as
we
walked
back
and
forth
in
front
of
Briony
Lodge,
waiting
for
its
occupant
to
arrive.
The
house
matched
Sherlock
Holmes'
brief
description,
but
the
area
was
livelier
than
I
had
anticipated.
For
a
small
street
in
a
quiet
neighborhood,
it
was
surprisingly
bustling.
There
was
a
group
of
poorly
dressed
men
smoking
and
laughing
in
a
corner,
a
man
sharpening
scissors
with
his
wheel,
two
soldiers
flirting
with
a
nursemaid,
and
several
well-dressed
young
men
strolling
with
cigars
in
their
mouths.
“You
see,”
Holmes
said
as
we
walked
in
front
of
the
house,
“this
marriage
makes
things
easier.
The
photograph
is
now
a
double-edged
sword.
She
likely
doesn't
want
Mr.
Godfrey
Norton
to
see
it
any
more
than
our
client
wants
his
princess
to.
The
question
is,
where
is
the
photograph?”
“Where
indeed?”
“It’s
unlikely
she
carries
it
with
her.
It’s
cabinet-sized,
too
large
to
hide
in
her
dress.
She
knows
the
King
might
have
her
waylaid
and
searched.
Two
such
attempts
have
already
happened.
So,
we
can
assume
she
doesn’t
carry
it
with
her.”
“Where,
then?”
