the
mystery
of
the
sinister
house
with
the
copper
beeches
was
solved.
Mr.
Rucastle
survived
but
was
always
a
broken
man,
kept
alive
only
by
the
care
of
his
devoted
wife.
They
still
live
with
their
old
servants,
who
likely
know
so
much
about
Rucastle’s
past
that
he
finds
it
hard
to
part
from
them.
Mr.
Fowler
and
Miss
Rucastle
married
by
special
license
in
Southampton
the
day
after
their
escape,
and
he
now
holds
a
government
position
in
Mauritius.
As
for
Miss
Violet
Hunter,
my
friend
Holmes,
much
to
my
disappointment,
showed
no
further
interest
in
her
once
she
was
no
longer
the
focus
of
one
of
his
cases,
and
she
is
now
the
head
of
a
private
school
in
Walsall,
where
I
believe
she
has
been
quite
successful.
