Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Red-Headed League
Capítulo 2, Página 12
"Eight
weeks
passed
like
this,
and
I
had
written
about
Abbots,
Archery,
Armour,
Architecture,
and
Attica,
hoping
with
diligence
to
start
on
the
B's
soon.
It
cost
me
a
bit
in
paper,
and
I
had
nearly
filled
a
shelf
with
my
writings.
Then
suddenly,
the
whole
operation
ended."
"Ended?"
"Yes,
sir.
Just
this
morning.
I
went
to
work
as
usual
at
ten
o'clock,
but
the
door
was
shut
and
locked,
with
a
small
square
of
cardboard
nailed
to
the
panel.
Here
it
is,
and
you
can
read
it
yourself."
He
held
up
a
piece
of
white
cardboard
about
the
size
of
a
sheet
of
note-paper.
It
read
like
this:
"THE
RED-HEADED
LEAGUE
IS
DISSOLVED.
October
9,
1890."
Sherlock
Holmes
and
I
looked
at
this
brief
announcement
and
the
disappointed
face
behind
it,
until
the
funny
side
of
the
situation
overtook
everything
else,
and
we
both
burst
into
laughter.
"I
don't
see
what's
so
funny,"
cried
our
client,
turning
red
to
the
roots
of
his
fiery
hair.
"If
all
you
can
do
is
laugh
at
me,
I
can
go
elsewhere."
"No,
no,"
said
Holmes,
pushing
him
back
into
the
chair
from
which
he
had
half
risen.
"I
wouldn't
miss
your
case
for
anything.
It's
refreshingly
unusual.
But,
if
you'll
excuse
me,
there
is
something
a
little
humorous
about
it.
What
did
you
do
when
you
found
the
card
on
the
door?"
