Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Five Orange Pips
Capítulo 5, Página 11
"No.
His
orders
were
to
stay
at
the
house."
Holmes
gestured
wildly
in
the
air
again.
"Why
did
you
come
to
me?"
he
asked,
"and
why
not
come
sooner?"
"I
didn't
know.
It
was
only
today
that
I
spoke
to
Major
Prendergast
about
my
troubles,
and
he
advised
me
to
see
you."
"It's
been
two
days
since
you
received
the
letter.
We
should
have
acted
sooner.
Do
you
have
any
more
evidence
than
what
you've
shown
us—any
detail
that
might
help?"
"There
is
one
thing,"
said
John
Openshaw.
He
searched
his
coat
pocket
and
pulled
out
a
piece
of
discolored,
blue-tinted
paper,
placing
it
on
the
table.
"I
remember
that
on
the
day
my
uncle
burned
the
papers,
I
noticed
the
small,
unburned
edges
among
the
ashes
were
this
color.
I
found
this
sheet
on
the
floor
of
his
room,
and
I
think
it
might
be
one
of
the
papers
that
escaped
destruction.
Besides
the
mention
of
pips,
it
doesn't
seem
to
help
us
much.
I
think
it
might
be
a
page
from
a
private
diary.
The
writing
is
definitely
my
uncle's."
Holmes
moved
the
lamp,
and
we
both
leaned
over
the
paper,
which
showed
by
its
torn
edge
that
it
had
been
ripped
from
a
book.
It
was
titled,
"March,
1869,"
and
underneath
were
these
cryptic
notes:
"4th.
Hudson
came.
Same
old
platform."
