Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Man with the Twisted Lip
Capítulo 6, Página 7
"Near
Lee,
in
Kent.
We
have
a
seven-mile
drive
ahead."
"But
I’m
completely
in
the
dark."
"Of
course
you
are.
You’ll
know
everything
soon.
Jump
up
here.
All
right,
John;
we
won’t
need
you.
Here’s
half
a
crown.
Look
out
for
me
tomorrow,
around
eleven.
Let
her
go.
See
you
then!"
He
flicked
the
horse
with
his
whip,
and
we
sped
through
a
series
of
dark
and
empty
streets,
which
gradually
widened
until
we
were
crossing
a
broad
bridge,
with
the
murky
river
flowing
slowly
beneath
us.
Beyond
lay
another
dull
expanse
of
buildings,
its
silence
broken
only
by
the
steady
footsteps
of
a
policeman
or
the
songs
and
shouts
of
a
late
party
of
revelers.
A
dull
cloud
drifted
slowly
across
the
sky,
and
a
star
or
two
twinkled
dimly
through
the
gaps.
Holmes
drove
in
silence,
lost
in
thought,
while
I
sat
beside
him,
eager
to
learn
about
this
new
quest
that
seemed
to
challenge
him
so
much,
yet
hesitant
to
interrupt
his
thoughts.
We
had
driven
several
miles
and
were
reaching
the
edge
of
suburban
villas
when
he
shook
himself,
shrugged,
and
lit
his
pipe
with
the
air
of
someone
who
feels
confident
he’s
doing
the
right
thing.
"You
have
a
great
gift
for
silence,
Watson,"
he
said.
"It
makes
you
a
priceless
companion.
Honestly,
it’s
wonderful
to
have
someone
to
talk
to,
as
my
own
thoughts
are
not
very
pleasant.
I
was
wondering
what
I
should
say
to
this
dear
lady
when
she
meets
me
at
the
door
tonight."
"You
forget
that
I
know
nothing
about
it."
"I’ll
have
just
enough
time
to
tell
you
the
facts
of
the
case
before
we
reach
Lee.
It
seems
absurdly
simple,
yet
I
can’t
find
anything
to
go
on.
There’s
plenty
of
thread,
but
I
can’t
get
hold
of
the
end.
Now,
I’ll
explain
the
case
clearly
and
briefly
to
you,
Watson,
and
maybe
you
can
see
a
light
where
I
see
darkness."
"Go
on,
then."
