Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle
Capítulo 7, Página 1
I
visited
my
friend
Sherlock
Holmes
on
the
second
morning
after
Christmas
to
wish
him
season's
greetings.
He
was
lounging
on
the
sofa
in
a
purple
dressing-gown,
with
a
pipe-rack
within
reach
and
a
pile
of
crumpled
morning
papers
nearby.
Next
to
the
couch
was
a
wooden
chair,
and
on
the
back
hung
a
shabby,
worn-out
hard-felt
hat,
cracked
in
several
places.
A
lens
and
forceps
on
the
chair
suggested
the
hat
was
being
examined.
"You
seem
busy,"
I
said.
"Am
I
interrupting?"
"Not
at
all.
I'm
glad
to
have
someone
to
discuss
my
findings
with.
The
matter
is
quite
trivial,"
he
said,
pointing
to
the
old
hat,
"but
there
are
aspects
of
it
that
are
interesting
and
even
instructive."
I
sat
in
his
armchair
and
warmed
my
hands
by
the
fire,
as
frost
had
set
in
and
the
windows
were
covered
with
ice.
"I
suppose
this
ordinary-looking
object
has
some
deadly
story
linked
to
it,
a
clue
to
solve
a
mystery
and
punish
a
crime."
"No,
no.
No
crime,"
Sherlock
Holmes
laughed.
"It's
just
one
of
those
quirky
incidents
that
happen
when
four
million
people
are
packed
into
a
few
square
miles.
In
such
a
dense
crowd,
every
possible
event
can
occur,
and
many
small
problems
are
striking
and
bizarre
without
being
criminal.
We've
seen
such
cases
before."
"Indeed,"
I
said,
"of
the
last
six
cases
I've
noted,
three
were
free
of
any
legal
crime."
"Exactly.
You
refer
to
my
attempt
to
recover
the
Irene
Adler
papers,
the
peculiar
case
of
Miss
Mary
Sutherland,
and
the
adventure
of
the
man
with
the
twisted
lip.
I
suspect
this
minor
matter
will
also
be
innocent.
You
know
Peterson,
the
commissionaire?"
"Yes."
